Carrier billing counts SMS units, not just the number of times you press send. Long messages may be segmented. Unicode characters and emoji can also reduce the number of characters in each segment.

Do members need a smartphone? +

No. Members receive ordinary SMS messages, so a flip phone works too. Members do not need to download an app.

How does someone join or leave? +

Members must consent to receive messages. Standard keywords such as STOP, START, HELP, and LEAVE are supported as applicable; make your group’s opt-in instructions clear and keep records of consent.

What happens when the wallet is empty? +

Sending is suspended at a zero balance. The dedicated number is retained for 60 days so the wallet can be restored before the group is closed.

Can I make a group free? +

Pricing is configurable. Free groups and per-group overrides are supported as the service is configured for your needs.

Can I pay by phone? +

Secure web payments through Stripe are planned. A central phone payment flow using FreeSWITCH is also planned for a future release.
